Annotation:
This source is a basic overview of the career of a pediatric nurse. The article goes into detail about difficulties of being a nurse, and the decline of People taking an interest in a nursing career. Also, the authors comment on the number of nurses who are deciding to take a different career path. In addition to that the article provides a chart giving percentages of working nurses, their education level, age group, average hours put in during a work week and so on.
Potential Quotes:
I think it would be interesting to use some of the graphs (pg.329 & 330) included in the article as sources. Also, I think the quotes from the survey done on a sample nursing staff are quite compelling. A few quotes from the survey are: “The work is really challenging;”(pg.328) “People go out of their way to help a new employee feel comfortable;” (pg.328) “Supervisors often criticize employees over minor things.” The Personal Growth Dimensions…”(pg.328).
Assessment:
I find this source to be creditable because it uses a good bit of statistics that evaluate the average number of nurses, and their day to day struggle. It also has details about levels of education needs to become a nurse, as well as an abundance of useable facts.
Reflection:
I could use the information from this article to learn more about the down side of a nursing career in order to make a better educated decision on my career choice.

Annotation:
This article gives direct thoughts from intelligent professors about the art of nursing. The two professors who wrote this article combines thoughts and ideas to create a theory of proper nursing. They include charts and graphs to elaborate on their theories. They elaborate on the importance of good bed side manner, and how nurses are to respect their patients and how they have a responsibility to help others. They also stress the idea of empathy for their patients. Overall, they journal article emphasizes nurse’s responsibility for the welfare of their patients.

“The theory of the art of nursing includes three concepts—respect, responsibility, and empathy” (pg.7)
“professional nursing [is] the ability to balance respect for human freedom and individual rights” (pg.8)
Assessment:
This article was written by two professors, both have extensive education and knowledge on the subject of nursing. Dr. Fawsett is a professor in the department of nursing. This leads me to believe that both authors have creditable knowledge about this subject.
Reflection:
Not only will I be able to use this information for my capstone project, but I will be able to use in in my internship. Any information about my future career can help me to better understand what I am doing at my internship. Also, when I am in college for my career I will already have a good bit of prior knowledge.

This article gives a special look into what it is like to be a neonatal nurse. It also gives a little bit on insight about what it is like to experience the loss of a premature infant. Neonatal nurses experience the devastating story of loosing a baby often as it is their job; most people can only imagine the pain of fighting for a helpless infant and then being able to do noting more for them. Overall, if someone is looking into becoming a neonatal nurse this would be a fantastic source to look into to gather information before hand.

This article uses an abundance of outside sources to build apron its own facts. It also is published on Galileo under academic articles, which means it has been reviewed and deemed an intellectual source. All in all I think it is a trustworthy source for information over the neonatal career.
Reflection:
This source has probably been the most helpful for me in my own life. It gave me insight to what my career in the neonatal field could really be like. This article will definitely be helpful when creating my capstone, but overall I believe it will serve a great purpose for me in the future.
